I like it ...

To anyone not clutter or craft-ly inclined, this probably looks like a nightmare. To me, though, it looks nice and cozy. This is my grandmother's washstand, and on it I have a devotional book, some projects, and my latest FO - one of Dot's Doohickeys! I wasn't 100% sure what I was going to think when I finished, but it was so practical (and I am constantly digging for a hook, needle, pen, or scissors in the mess that is my desk) I wanted to give it a shot.

Anyway - I LOVE IT! It holds my hooks nicely (the ones I use regularly - the others are stored away, I promise), even my P hook fits into the side; my needles go in nicely (and I'm thinking that if I made one out of wool, that would be useful for cleaning needles and pins?) and - this is probably my favorite part - my lovely new stitch markers from Deneen fasten on and make it look extra pretty, as well as putting them right within reach!

I apologize for not having a close up - for some reason I'm having a hard time getting a good picture of just that. This shows how nicely it fits in though! LOL

I like it, I like my stuff within reach, which makes for clutter, but I hate digging for stuff in the middle of a project. I'm glad you liked the stitch markers-I liked making them for ya.

The kitty looks cute in the window and it's making me wonder how long before he/she climbs on the washstand and makes a bed out of it!

Love your cat! He/she isn't even bothered that you are focussing on the table and not on him/her ;)

My first thought at seeing your pic was very cozy, home looking too, with your yarn and WIP's and kitty all settling in together on the teacart. And like you say, it's handy too, the doohickey.

Hi Secret Pal, I just love your Grandmother's washstand. I really think that you did a great job, and I don't think it looks cluttered at all. I love antiques, as well as kitties, so I think we have alot in common aside from the cooking. I was thinking of making the Doohickey myself, and now I know I will. Sorry I didn't send you anything yet, but I promise to in a few days. I have your package all ready to go. I hope you don't feel neglected!
